Message from the Director
Welcome!
We in the School of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas would like to thank you for your interest in our school! We offer majors in the areas of Apparel Studies; Food, Human Nutrition and Hospitality; Human Development, Family Sciences and Rural Sociology; Interior Design; and General Human Environmental Sciences.
We are housed in an interesting juxtaposition of tradition and technology. The Home Economics building itself was added to the National Register of Historic Places in September of 1992, but within its walls are modern classrooms, and laboratories. In addition, the renovations of Carnall Hall (the second-oldest building on the U of A campus, completed in 1905) were recently completed. Hospitality and Restaurant Management students are now using the facilities in Carnall Hall (including state of the art classroom and laboratory space) in one of the best methods of education: learning hands-on.
With our committed team of faculty and staff, all students are given personal attention and graduate with the education and experience necessary to succeed in their chosen paths. Through surveys conducted one and five years after their graduation, we find that our graduates are happy with their positions, believe they have a good education, and are working in areas related to their college major. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our graduates.
We encourage you to come take a tour of the U of A campus and our building, plus get acquainted with our faculty. Thank you again for your interest in our school. We look forward to getting to know you soon!
Sincerely,
Mary Warnock
Director, School of Human Environmental Sciences
